One of the posts from the old forum by Andrea Childerhose (once you click on that link then search on her name or see below pasted in) refers to a study done by the University of Pennsylvania regarding how yoga can help with carpal tunnel syndrome.  The article is here:

http://www.newellness.com/yoga/yogaforCTS.htm    ( The department of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia, USA)

Liz I don't know if you have had replies yet about this. The lotus

mudra see Uma's Nada yoga / hasta mudras sheet from the

foundation level perinatal course, could be a starting point. As

suggested by Francoise the student would then move the backs of

the hands together, continue moving hands until the fingers point

down and rotate hands back to original position.

I am happy to show you or your student in person. Also there is a

website wwwdesktopyoga.com which provides exercises to relieve

carpal tunnel syndrome Hope this is helpful. Gill Henderson

A physiotherapist friend advises playing with,  i.e. manipulating, a large golfball sized ball of play dough, for balance best have one for both hands. This is believed to help strengthen relevent muscles, possibly reducing painful symtoms. Worth a try?

     Dear all,

Another article re: carpal tunnel syndrome and yoga referred to by Gill Henderson in the old forums:

    http://www.mydailyyoga.com/yoga/yoga_and_carpal_tunnel-rsi.html

Important to keep reading this article to the end where they recommend exercises.

    Cheers,
    Jeff
